Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from selected airport

Today you will fly to Bali, the Island of the Gods, with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 2: Arrival in Bali – Ubud

You land at Bali’s international airport, Ngurah Rai, in the main city of Denpasar. On arrival, you pass through immigration and receive your free tourist visa. Your driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with an Asiatours sign, and you will immediately sense the warm Balinese welcome.

Along with your guide, you are driven to your hotel in the beautiful city of Ubud, which also is Bali’s cultural heart, where traditions and ceremonial events are held wholeheartedly. After checking in, the rest of the day is at your disposal.

Days 3-4: Free days in Ubud

There are no planned excursions and you can take the days at your own pace, deciding the activities yourself.

Ubud is located in the gorgeous hilly highlands surrounded by rivers, ravines and grassy-green rice paddies and terraces.

On streets and in temples, ceremonial events often take place, and you can experience the Balinese in their lovely traditional clothes on their way to the local temple, with offerings to the Hindu deities Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. It is a truly wonderful and atmospheric thing to experience.

Ubud is also Bali’s centre of art, and many artists have settled down with art galleries and small shops with local handicrafts made from wood, glass and ceramics. If you do not fall in love with the arts and crafts, perhaps you will fall for the bags, jewellery or organic beauty products.

One of Ubud’s popular attractions is the Monkey Forest, situated in a protected temple area. Hundreds of wild macaques live here. Make sure to hide any food, drinks or sunglasses in your bag, so that you do not tempt the naughty monkeys into getting too close.

In the evening when darkness falls, you can visit one of Ubud’s many excellent restaurants, many of which are organic, and round off with a drink or a cup of coffee at one of the cosy bars or cafés, where you can take in the local atmosphere.

You can also spend an evening at Ubud Palace and experience a wonderful Balinese dance show that depicts stories from Hinduism with traditional music and song. This includes pieces such as “Barong”, which depicts the battle between good and evil with dancers wearing horrific masks and “Legong”, the cheerful and feminine dance with delicate movements performed by women.

We have collected a range of exciting optional tours that you can read more about below.

Day 5: Ubud – Tirta Empul Temple – Tegallalang Rice Terraces – Arts and Crafts Villages – Sanur

Today you say goodbye to Ubud, and after a lovely breakfast, you check out of the hotel and are picked up by your guide and driver, who take you on an exciting half-day excursion around Ubud.

The first visit is the water temple Tirta Empul in Tampaksiring, located by 12 natural springs. The temple is incredibly beautiful with fine sculptures and fishponds full of carps. The main attraction is the pool with the sacred water, where you can bathe and cleanse your soul alongside the locals, who leave offerings and light incense sticks that fill the air with their scent.

The next stop is the famous rice terraces of Tegallalang, which are among the most beautiful on the island. Here you have a phenomenal view and unique photo opportunities.

Afterwards, you are driven to the small arts and crafts villages Mas and Batubulan, which each have their own speciality. In Mas, the wood carvers pursue their expertise, and in Batubulan, you can experience the stone carvers.

Next, you set a course for Sanur and can expect some lovely days on the beach, digesting the many experiences and impressions of the tour.

Days 6-9: Beach holiday in Sanur

Sanur is Bali’s most popular beach town and has managed to maintain its pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. The town’s big draw is its 5 km long, wide and golden sandy beach, which is known for its calm waters and gentle waves. This is because the beach is protected by a coral reef a bit further out, making it extremely child-friendly. Here you can frolic in the warm water and enjoy the sun on a recliner or read a good book under the swaying palm trees.

The beach boardwalk runs alongside the beach, inviting you for strolls amidst small shops with products such as wood crafts, clothing and other souvenirs.

On the high street, you will find a pleasant selection of cafés and restaurants, as well as shops. Walking away from the main street, you will get down to the small side streets, where you can experience local life and small houses standing side by side with lovely temples.

In the evening, you can enjoy the sunset from the beach, where the many local fishing boats and the small pavilion form a perfect backdrop.

Day 10: Departure day

After a spectacular holiday, it is now time to find your way back to British shores. You are picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport in Denpasar, from which you fly home to the UK, with connecting flights along the way.

Day 11: Arrival back home

You land in the UK after a spectacular and relaxing holiday.

Beach holiday extension at Nusa Lembongan, 3 nights

Nusa Lembongan is a small, tropical paradise island of just 8 km² and just 45 minutes from Bali by sea. Here you can bring down the pace and just enjoy the golden sandy beaches, the crystal-clear water, swaying palm trees and wild nature with cactuses and rock formations. The island is also known for its great snorkelling and diving opportunities. There are only a few cars on the small island, so getting around by bicycle is the easiest.

The majority of the north-eastern section of the island is covered in mangrove, which serves an important role in the ecosystem of the area and helps give life to the many corals. You can go on a quiet boat ride through the mangroves in either a kayak or a small boat.

Many of the island’s inhabitants sustain themselves by growing seaweed. When the tides go out, the seaweed fields appear, and you will see farmers stream out to pick it.

You can extend the beach holiday with additional nights, just as you please.

Beach holiday extension to Gili Trawangan, 4 nights

If you wish to conclude your holiday with a stay on a perfect paradise island, then Gili Trawangan is an excellent choice. Gili Trawangan is one of the three Gili islands – and the most popular. There are no cars on the island, so getting about is on two feet, two wheels or perhaps a horse-drawn carriage. During the day, the atmosphere on the island is relaxed, with things livening up in the evening at the numerous small restaurants and bars around the island. The days are spent on the long, white beaches or in the clear water. Gili has the reputation of being one of the best places to dive in Indonesia.

Note that on this extension, you will spend 3 nights at Gili Trawangan and 1 night in Sanur.

When travelling between Bali and Gili, you should be aware that the Lombok Strait can be choppy in the months of June/July and January/February. If the weather is unsuitable for sailing, the ferry will be cancelled for safety reasons. This generally happens once or twice a year and usually lasts for about one to two days at a time. If the ferry is cancelled, we will of course find the best possible solution and alternative for you.

Discover Komodo Island and West Flores, 4 nights

Komodo Island is home to the great Komodo dragons. The Komodo dragon is the largest living species of lizard in the world. It can grow up to three metres long and weigh up to 165 kg. Despite its huge size, it can move at speeds of up to 20 km/h – and it is carnivorous with an aggressive and pretty brutal hunting technique. And yet a visit to the monitor lizards is on the wish list of many travellers. It’s not every day you get see the world’s largest lizard, which has survived here on the island for some 10 million years! Besides the Komodo dragons, you can also see buffaloes, wild boar, wild deer, macaques, and beautiful birds, not to mention a landscape that is both scenic and rugged. The water is crystal clear; the seas full of brightly coloured fish and corals. Designated as a national park, Komodo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The extension consists of a full-day excursion to Komodo Island, snorkelling at Pink Beach and Kelor Island as well as a full-day excursion in western Flores, taking in the Cunca Rami waterfall, Batu Cermin Cave and a visit to a local market.

Please note that on this extension, you have three nights in Labuan Bajo on Flores and round off with one night in Sanur in Bali.

Children on the tour must be aged 7+.

Please note: This extension is not possible during periods from 20 – 27 May 2020 and 30 – 31 July 2020.
