Possible upgrades:
Day 3: Day to do as you please in Ubud

The day is yours to do whatever you please, so there’s plenty of time to acclimatise. Relax by the pool, head into the centre of Ubud or choose one of our extra excursions described below.

Ubud has a whole host of activities to offer and is Bali’s art and culture centre. You can also visit one of Ubud’s most popular attractions, Monkey Forest, which is situated in a conservation area close to the town centre. Go for a walk along the paths in the woods and enjoy the sight of the playful, wild monkeys, which can also be cheeky, so be sure to have any food tucked away in a bag so as not to tempt the monkeys to get too close.

Many artists have established themselves in Ubud with art galleries and small shops selling local handicrafts in silver, wood, glass and ceramic.

Be sure to take a break at one of the town’s many cosy cafés and restaurants.

You will also find a wide selection of fabulous dance performances of the local, dramatic and entertaining Kecak dance, also known as the fire dance, which is performed by male dancers.

Day 4: Visit to and activities in the village of Rumah Desa

Today, you will get right up close to the traditional Balinese culture in the small village of Rumah Desa, located 35 km outside Ubud. Here, you have the opportunity to participate in some of the villagers’ daily activities.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and head for the unspoilt rolling green landscapes of Tabanan province. Along the way, you will make a stop at the royal temple complex Taman Ayun, which dates back to 1634. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and large garden landscapes with lotus flowers in the jade-green fish ponds.

Having proceeded to the village of Rumah Desa, you will experience first hand the everyday life and traditions of the Balinese people. On your arrival, you will be greeted by a local host and you will see and hear how the families live, build houses, farm and cook. You will have the opportunity to participate in all the activities yourself if you wish. You will go for a walk through the village with its small houses, temples and scenic, hilly landscape with exotic trees and plants. After around a 15-minute walk, you arrive at the rice fields, where you see how water buffaloes assist with the work in the fields. See how the coconut palms are climbed and how coconut oil is made, and taste a fresh coconut. There will also be time to visit a local school. Back at the village, the locals will serve a lovely Balinese lunch before you head back to Ubud. The drive takes around an hour, and you will be back at the hotel at 4 pm, when the rest of the day is yours to do as you please.

Day 5: Day to do as you please in Ubud

The day is yours to relax by the pool, go for a walk into the centre of Ubud or purchase one of our extra excursions.

Day 6: Ubud – Tegalalang rice terraces – Tirta Empul water temple – Kintamani – Lovina

Today, you’ll be heading to Bali’s north coast and the child-friendly Lovina beach with its characteristic black volcanic sand. After breakfast and check-out at the hotel, you will be picked up by the guide and driven to Lovina. An array of experiences and several stops await you on the scenic drive. The first stop is at the famous Tegalalang rice terraces, where you will be met by a dazzlingly beautiful sight.

You will then continue to the nearby unique holy water temple in Tampaksiring, Tirta Empul. The Balinese flock here, bringing small offerings and dressed in their beautiful, colourful costumes to be cleansed in the holy springs emanating from the temple. You will experience the Balinese at close quarters and feel the joyful atmosphere that prevails. If you wish, you can take part in the cleansing ceremony and jump in the pool containing the holy water. Children must be at least 145 cm tall to participate in the actual cleansing ceremony.  Please note that during your visit to the temple, you will have to wear a sarong just as in all other temples in Bali.

After enjoying a wonderful experience at the holy water temple, the tour continues through the breathtaking landscapes to the Kintamani Highlands which offer an impressive view of the Batur volcano and the crater lake. After a nice lunch, you will be driven the last part of the journey to Lovina. After check-in at the hotel, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please, so you can relax by the pool or on the beach.

From Lovina beach, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset over the sea, and along the 12 km-long beach, there are a couple of cosy little villages with good restaurants. Peace and quiet reign here, and you have every opportunity to go snorkelling and diving both at the reef off Kalibukbuk and especially on the island of Menjangan.

The actual time spent driving time today is around 3.5 hours.

Possible upgrades:
Day 7: Morning with wild dolphins in Lovina

Bright and early, an unforgettable adventure with wild dolphins awaits. The guide will pick you up at 7 am, and a little further along the beach, you will sail out into the calm waters of the bay in a local outrigger fishing boat.

The dolphins are particularly active in the morning, when they are out looking for food and playfully jumping around in the water as the first few rays of sunlight glisten on the deep blue sea. Five different types of dolphins live in Lovina Bay in pods of from 10–12 up to more than a hundred. It’s a stunning sight to see them swim through the water at the speed of lightning, only to shoot up out of the water and turn somersaults or corkscrew in mid-air. The dolphins in Lovina Bay are wild animals, but you are in with a 95% chance of seeing them. Sometimes there are only a few pods out there, and other times, many.

Back at the hotel, breakfast is served and then the rest of the day is yours to do whatever you please.

Day 8: Day to do as you please in Ubud

Today, there is nothing planned on the itinerary, so you are free to choose whether you want to relax by the pool or on the beach or go on one of our extra excursions.

You could also head into Singaraja, which is the main town in the area, just 9 km from the hotel. Not many tourists come here, so you can enjoy an authentic experience in the streets, several of which are adorned with avenues of trees and buildings dating back to the Dutch colonial era.

Day 9: Lovina – Sanur

Enjoy the morning in peace and quiet before checking out from the hotel at noon, when you will be picked up by the guide and begin the journey to your beach holiday in Sanur. Along the way, you will pass unique landscapes with fantastic scenery at the Twin Lakes, Tamblingan and Buyan. The lakes are surrounded by dense rainforest in the lush, unspoilt Balinese highlands at Munduk. They were once one big lake, but in around 1800, a landslide split the lake into two, and they are now separated by a ridge of almost 2 km. In the afternoon, after 4–5-hour drive, you will arrive at the hotel in the seaside resort of Sanur, where you can relax for the rest of the day.

Sanur is a cosy, peaceful seaside resort, located on the 5 km-long golden sandy beach. The kids can romp about on the wide beach and in the calm sea, as the waves break on the coral reef further out. The lovely beach promenade is made for a stroll among the small stalls, green palms and with a view of the small, nicely painted, colourful fishing boats. An array of small shops, cafés and restaurants lines the main street, and in the small side streets, you can experience the local life among the small houses and temples of the Balinese.

Possible upgrades:
Days 10-12: Sanur

The days are yours to do as you please, so you can chill by the pool and on the sandy beaches or purchase some of our extra excursions.

Day 13: Homeward bound

Today, the time has come to say goodbye to breathtaking Bali. After check-out, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport in Denpasar, From here, you will fly back to Europe, with connecting flight(s) on the way.

City break in Singapore, 3 nights

Extend your tour to include an exciting city break to Singapore and be blown away by the state-of-the-art metropolis of the East.

Covering an area of just 721.5 km2, the island state is South-east Asia’s smallest country, and what the small, well-developed country lacks in size, it more than makes up for in experiences.

Look forward to experiencing the architectural Marina Bay Sands, stroll around the green oasis Gardens by the Bay, shop to your heart’s content on Orchard Road, drink Singapore Slings at Raffles Hotel and ride in the 165-metre-high ferris wheel, the Singapore Flyer, which offers a phenomenal view of all the futuristic skyscrapers and the harbour.

What also makes Singapore so cool is that it is a melting pot of cultures, and people live with respect for and an understanding of one another, with Buddhist temples, mosques, churches and Hindu temples side by side. Singapore’s diversity can be experienced in the charming districts of Little India, China Town and the Arabic and Malay quarter, Kampong Glam. Soak in the atmosphere while being seduced by the wonderful, colourful buildings and the aroma of spices and jasmine.

The multicultural community is also reflected in the many culinary delights on offer around the city. If you’re into authentic street food, you can visit one of the famous hawker centres, or, if upscale Michelin restaurants are more your thing, make your way to the special food street, Keong Saik Road, and discover some of Singapore’s best restaurants.

Other popular and hip neighbourhoods are the colourful Haji Lane in Kampong Glam and the Art Deco area, Tiong Bahru. Both neighbourhoods are known for their cosy cafés, exciting restaurants and shops as well as wonderful street art.

In stark contrast to the vibrant city life is Sentosa Island, a small island which offers lovely sandy beaches and countless sights and activities for the whole family such as Universal Studios and various adventure parks.

Does Singapore sound tempting?

Beach holiday extension at Nusa Lembongan, 3 nights

Nusa Lembongan is a small, tropical paradise island of just 8 km² and just 45 minutes from Bali by sea. Here you can bring down the pace and just enjoy the golden sandy beaches, the crystal-clear water, swaying palm trees and wild nature with cactuses and rock formations. The island is also known for its great snorkelling and diving opportunities. There are only a few cars on the small island, so getting around by bicycle is the easiest.

The majority of the north-eastern section of the island is covered in mangrove, which serves an important role in the ecosystem of the area and helps give life to the many corals. You can go on a quiet boat ride through the mangroves in either a kayak or a small boat.

Many of the island’s inhabitants sustain themselves by growing seaweed. When the tides go out, the seaweed fields appear, and you will see farmers stream out to pick it.

You can extend the beach holiday with additional nights, just as you please.

Beach holiday extension to Gili Trawangan, 4 nights

If you wish to conclude your holiday with a stay on a paradise island, then Gili Trawangan is an excellent choice.

Gili Trawangan, also known as Gili T, is one of the three Gili islands – and the most popular. Gili Trawangan has become especially popular due to great opportunities it offers for scuba diving and snorkelling in the sea around the island. See sea turtles, colourful fish and perhaps even a reef shark. The island is also known for its lovely beaches, which invite pure, unadulterated relaxation. Lie yourself down on a sun lounger and soak up the warm rays of the sun, or enjoy a drink in one of the many beanbags in the shade of a coconut palm.

During the day, the atmosphere is relaxed, with things livening up in the evening at the numerous small restaurants and bars. On the west side of the island, you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Bali, and if you’re lucky and it’s a clear evening, you’ll even be able to see the sun go down behind Mt. Agung volcano in Bali. It’s a wonderful experience that you’ll never forget! There are no paved roads or cars here, but bicycles and horse-drawn carriages instead.

In other words, Gili Trawangan has everything you need for a relaxing beach holiday.

Please note that on this extension, you spend three nights on Gili Trawangan and one night in Sanur.
