THE TOUR IN SHORT

The tour takes you to four of Indonesia’s paradise islands with everything in place for complete and utter relaxation – spend the days at your leisure and decide the pace and activities yourself. There is an option to purchase extra excursions if you would like to combine relaxation with experiences.

You start in Bali in the popular resort town of Sanur, which is famous for its relaxing, cosy atmosphere, not to mention its many kilometre-long golden sandy beach. After a day in the sun on the beach, you can relax at one of the town’s cosy cafés or popular lounge bars and soak up the atmosphere.

From Bali, you travel by speedboat to the scenic, peaceful island of Lombok. In terms of nature, Lombok is very reminiscent of Bali, though there are fewer tourists here, leaving Lombok far more untouched, while everything happens at a more relaxed pace. You will stay in a small, calm bay by Senggigi Beach, the best beach on the west coast.

The tour continues to Gili Trawangan, which is one of the three Gili islands. Gili Trawangan is particularly popular for its beaches and excellent diving and snorkelling offering the possibility of seeing sea turtles, among other things. In the evening you can lie back in a beanbag chair and enjoy a drink as the sun silently sets behind the volcano Mt. Agung in Bali.

You round off the tour on the small bounty island Nusa Lembongan, which is renowned for its fantastic white sandy beaches, azure waters and rugged nature with rock formations, cacti and mangroves. Beneath the water’s surface, you can see vast schools of tropical fish in every colour of the rainbow, sea turtles, sunfish and even rays.

You have the option to extend your tour with a stay in Ubud in Bali, or with a big city break in Singapore.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from selected airport

Today you fly to Indonesia, with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 2: Arrival in Bali – Transfer to your hotel in Sanur

You land in Bali at the international airport, Ngurah Rai, in the island’s capital of Denpasar. On arrival, you pass through immigration and receive your tourist visa. Your guide will be waiting for you with a TourCompass sign in the arrivals hall, and you will immediately feel the warmth of Balinese hospitality.

You are driven to your hotel in the resort town of Sanur, where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing after the long flight, while acclimatising to the time difference and lovely hot climate.

Days 3-4: Sanur on your own

Today is at your disposal to relax and explore Sanur on your own.

Sanur is one of Bali’s most popular resort towns with a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. The city is particularly famous for its 5-km long sandy beach with calm waters and smooth waves, making it astoundingly child-friendly. Alongside the beach you will find the boardwalk, which is ideal for walks, runs and bike rides. This is where you can meet the locals, busy in their small shops.

In the main district of the town, you will find a larger selection of businesses as well as good restaurants and cosy cafés where you can sit down and take in the atmosphere. If you head off the main street, you come down into the charming side streets with buildings, temples and local life.

In the evening, you can take a stroll along the boardwalk and watch the sky’s beautiful colours before sunset. Next, you can enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the restaurants and end with a drink at one of the popular lounge bars.

Day 5: Sanur – Lombok – Senggigi

Today, it is time to say goodbye to Bali. After breakfast and check-out, you are picked up and driven to the harbour south of Sanur, where a speedboat takes you to Lombok, which is east of Bali.

The closer you get to Lombok, the more visible the volcano Mt. Rinjani becomes, as it towers at 3726 metres above sea level on the northern end of the island. After roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes, you reach Teluk Kode, where you are picked up by a driver who takes you to the hotel in Senggigi, located approx. 45 minutes away by car. After check-in, you can relax and enjoy the wide sandy beach, the hotel pool, or explore Senggigi to find your favourite restaurant for the evening.

Lombok is a peaceful and naturally beautiful island with rainforests, volcanoes, cliffs, green rice paddies and gorgeous beaches. There are fewer tourists here than in Bali, so the island is also far more untouched, and everything happens at a much more laid-back pace.

Days 6-7: Senggigi on your own

There are no planned excursions, so everything is in place for pure relaxation.

Senggigi sits in a calm bay and has one of the area’s best bathing beaches. The water is warm and turquoise with small, gentle waves. Here, you can relax in a lounger and take in warm sunbeams. Early in the morning, you can also see local fishermen reach shore with the catch of the day. On the main street, you can find small businesses and good restaurants. You can eat cheap, local food while treating yourself to the slightly more expensive restaurants located down by the beach.

If you would like to experience a little of the area, you can rent a bicycle and follow the island’s paths, which take you through village societies, rice paddies, temples and vibrant markets with wonderful, hand-woven textiles, pottery and woven baskets. You may also be lucky enough to watch farmers harvest rice with sickles, or ploughing fields the old-fashioned way with buffaloes and ploughs.

In the evening, you can enjoy the fantastic sunset on the beach as it fades into the horizon.

Day 8: Lombok – Gili Trawangan

Today, you leave Lombok and head west to Gili Trawangan.

After breakfast and check-out, you are picked up at the resort and driven to a small harbour, where a speedboat takes you to Gili Trawangan. The crossing takes approximately 15 minutes. After arrival and check-in at the hotel, you can go exploring on the island and find your favourite beach or a good bar, where you can sit and enjoy the island atmosphere.

Gili Trawangan, also known as Gili T, is one of the three Gili islands – and the most popular. Gili Trawangan has become especially popular due to great opportunities it offers for scuba diving and snorkelling in the sea around the island. See sea turtles, colourful fish and perhaps even a reef shark. The island is also known for its lovely beaches, which invite pure, unadulterated relaxation.

During the day, the atmosphere is relaxed, with things livening up in the evening at the numerous small restaurants and bars. On the west side of the island, you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Bali, and if you’re lucky and it’s a clear evening, you’ll even be able to see the sun go down behind Mt. Agung.

There are no paved roads or cars here, only horse-drawn carriages and bicycles. As there are no cars on the island, once you arrive, you can choose either to walk to your hotel, which takes about 10 minutes, or hire a horse-drawn carriage. There is no fixed price for this, but most horse-drawn carriages usually cost about 150,000 – 200,000 Rp. Remember to agree the price with the driver before climbing into the carriage.

In other words, Gili Trawangan has everything you could want for a relaxing beach holiday.

Days 9-10: Gili Trawangan on your own

The days are yours to enjoy this exotic island on your own.

Both during the day and in the evening, there is a lot to do here on the island.

During the day, you can go diving or snorkelling. One of the great highlights is meeting the sea turtles, which is an unforgettable experience! If you have never dived before, it is possible to buy an introductory diving course with one of the diving companies on the island. If you’re more into snorkelling, you can purchase a guided snorkelling trip to one or more spots at one of the many snorkelling booths. You can also buy snorkelling gear and explore the waters yourself. Maps of the island and the various spots are available at the snorkelling booths.

If you’re in the mood for shopping, there are several shops on the east side of the island where you can find swimwear, nice shirts and dresses as well as souvenirs. If relaxation is more your thing, you can plonk yourself down on a sun lounger on your favourite beach or by the hotel pool and enjoy the warm rays of the sun. You can also sit down at a restaurant or bar and order a refreshing drink and soak in the atmosphere. We highly recommend a cold, fresh coconut water, served in a coconut with straws in it.

In the evening, be sure to see the beautiful sunset on the west side of the island. Find a beanbag and settle down with a sundowner while the sun gently goes down over the horizon. Many of the hotels on this side of the island have a wooden swing out in the water, providing the perfect picture of the sea.

Day 11: Gili Trawangan – Nusa Lembongan

Today, the 4th and last island of the tour awaits, namely the small heavenly island of Nusa Lembongan, located south-west and of Gili Trawangan and south-east of Bali.

After check-out, you make your own way down to the harbour, where a speedboat is waiting to take you on the 2-hour trip to Nusa Lembongan. On arrival at the small harbour in Lembongan, a shuttle bus is ready to drive you all the way to the beach resort. From the moment you set foot on the just 8-km2 little island, you immediately sense the relaxing atmosphere.

Nusa Lembongan is renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches, azure water, swaying palm trees and wild nature, with cactuses and rock formations. Like Gili Trawangan, the island is also famous for its great snorkelling and diving opportunities.

After check-in, you can take a walk along the fine beach and enjoy a swim in the lovely water.

Days 12-13: Nusa Lembongan on your own

The day is yours to enjoy this little authentic tropical paradise at your own pace.

You can relax by the pool or on the bright sandy beach, or go exploring around the island. Note that there are only a few cars here on Lembongan, so getting around by bicycle is the easiest.

Many of the island’s inhabitants sustain themselves by growing seaweed. When the tides recede, the seaweed fields emerge, and you can see the farmers stream out into the ankle-deep water to pick the day’s harvest. They place it in big woven baskets and carry it back to shore to dry it in the sun.

That seaweed agriculture is the island’s primary source of income also means that the locals do not depend on fishing, which is clearly noticeable when you put your diving mask on. Vast schools of fish in all the colours of the rainbow flock here, and you have a chance to see skaters, sunfish and sea turtles. If you are curious about getting up close to local life, then feel free to have a chat with the smiling, friendly people you meet on your way – perhaps you will be invited by one of the hospitable seaweed farmers. They will also happily help you find your way to one of the island’s untouched beaches, where very few tourists ever go. The most popular beaches here on the island are Mushroom Beach, Sunset Beach and Dream Beach, all of which are on the west coast.

The majority of the north-eastern section of Lembongan is covered in mangrove, which serves an important role in the ecosystem of the area and helps give life to the many corals. Here, you can go on a quiet boat ride in either a kayak or a small boat.

In the afternoon, you can conclude the day with a glass of wine in Panorama Bar & Restaurant, from which you can experience the spectacular view and sunset.

Day 14: Nusa Lembongan – Bali – Departure day

After a lovely, relaxing holiday on the most gorgeous Indonesian islands, it is now time to set a course for home.

You are picked up by a shuttle bus at your resort and driven to the small harbour, where a speedboat will take you on a 45-minute ride back to the port in Sanur. From here, you are driven to the airport in Denpasar, from which you fly to Europe with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 15: Arrival back home

You land in your selected airport after a lovely and relaxing island hopping adventure in Indonesia.

Bali's cultural centre Ubud
3 nights

If you would like to experience Bali’s soul and gorgeous nature, you must choose this extension to Ubud.

Here, you can wander in untamed jungles, go cycling in rice paddies, river rafting on the Ayung River, and learn to make delicious Indonesian dishes at one of the city’s many cooking schools.

In Ubud, traditions and religion are upheld wholeheartedly. Large ceremonial processions often take place in the streets and temples, and you can see the Balinese on their way to one of the local temples with tributes to the Hindu gods Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu – a truly wonderful and atmospheric experience!

Beyond the strong bonds to old traditions and religion, Ubud is also known for its art. Many local and foreign artists have settled in this city, and all along the main street, these many creative souls have opened exhibitions and galleries displaying wonderful arts and crafts located side by side with small shops selling nice jewellery, clothing and bags.

In Ubud, you can also find many great and exciting restaurants, whether you’re into Indonesian, Japanese, Italian, vegan, or if you’re a big fan of organic produce. You can also take in Ubud’s wholly unique mood and atmosphere at one of the city’s cosy cafés and taste the world’s most expensive coffee, brewed from luwak beans.

City break in Singapore
3 nights

Extend your tour to include an exciting city break to Singapore and be blown away by the state-of-the-art metropolis of the East.

Covering an area of just 721.5 km2, the island state is South-east Asia’s smallest country, and what the small, well-developed country lacks in size, it more than makes up for in experiences.

Look forward to experiencing the architectural Marina Bay Sands, stroll around the green oasis Gardens by the Bay, shop to your heart’s content on Orchard Road, drink Singapore Slings at Raffles Hotel and ride in the 165-metre-high ferris wheel, the Singapore Flyer, which offers a phenomenal view of all the futuristic skyscrapers and the harbour.

What also makes Singapore so cool is that it is a melting pot of cultures, and people live with respect for and an understanding of one another, with Buddhist temples, mosques, churches and Hindu temples side by side. Singapore’s diversity can be experienced in the charming districts of Little India, China Town and the Arabic and Malay quarter, Kampong Glam. Soak in the atmosphere while being seduced by the wonderful, colourful buildings and the aroma of spices and jasmine.

The multicultural community is also reflected in the many culinary delights on offer around the city. If you’re into authentic street food, you can visit one of the famous hawker centres, or, if upscale Michelin restaurants are more your thing, make your way to the special food street, Keong Saik Road, and discover some of Singapore’s best restaurants.

Other popular and hip neighbourhoods are the colourful Haji Lane in Kampong Glam and the Art Deco area, Tiong Bahru. Both neighbourhoods are known for their cosy cafés, exciting restaurants and shops as well as wonderful street art.

In stark contrast to the vibrant city life is Sentosa Island, a small island which offers lovely sandy beaches and countless sights and activities for the whole family such as Universal Studios and various adventure parks.

Does Singapore sound tempting?

The extension includes a 3-night hotel stay with breakfast, flight to Singapore and transfers.
