Summer Island

Ziyaraifushi

Summer Island is located 34 km from Malé airport. From here, you zip for 45 minutes in speedboat across the fascinating turquoise-coloured water to the North Atoll archipelago where Summer Island is located.

Summer Island’s smiling staff will be there to meet you as soon as you step off the speedboat and across the gangplank. You will be given a warm welcome and led into this barefoot paradise.

When you kick off your shoes and step onto the white sand on this scenic island, where the coconut palms sway in the light breeze and where the blue sky contrasts with the crystal-clear waters, you will almost have to pinch yourself because can it really be true that you have come to paradise? And yes, it can. Summer Island is a true paradise, and this will be your home for the next few days.

Summer Island is the perfect setting for a dream holiday, offering tranquillity, relaxation, adventure and bounty beaches.

The resort has 156 beautiful, modern rooms, decorated in light colours with wooden furniture. The stay is based on a superior bungalow, sleeping up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child. The superior bungalows have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, a safe, TV, telephone, king size bed, sofa, desk/dressing table, coffee/tea making facilities and a semi-outdoor bathroom with toiletries and a hair dryer. On the private veranda, there is also a sofa and a table and chairs, where you can enjoy the view of the beach while sitting in the shade, reading a good book, playing cards or sipping a cool drink.

The resort has an infinity pool overlooking the turquoise lagoon, where you can laze on a sun lounger or on an air bed or you can swim a few lengths.

Not everything has to be about relaxation on Summer Island as there is also a gym and a variety of water sports such as windsurfing and para-sailing, or you can go out on a paddle board, in a canoe or on a banana boat.

When in the Maldives, you simply have to pull on a snorkel, mask and flippers. Walk out just a few metres from the beach and a fairy-tale world will open up to you with corals and beautiful fish in all the colours of the rainbow.

After a day in the sun, be sure to treat yourself to a visit to Firuma Spa, which stands on poles in the water. Here, you can enjoy a lovely massage as you look down through the glass floor – perhaps Nemo will swim past. You can also indulge in a steam bath, various facials, manicures and pedicures. You are then ready for another day in the sun.

In the evening, you can go for a walk along the beach and enjoy the sunset before dinner.

Summer Island has three restaurants: the buffet restaurant Hiya, built on poles over the water and reserved for guests staying at Premium Beach Villa and Water Villa, as well as the main restaurant Samuga, which is also a buffet restaurant serving dishes from all over the world. In addition, there is Avi, which is both an a la carte restaurant and a cocktail lounge with stunning views.

End the day with a colourful cocktail in the Nevi bar.

It is worth mentioning that in 2017 and 2018, Summer Island won the award for South Asia’s leading beach resort. The resort actually also won the award for the leading beach resort in the Maldives in 2018.
