Enjoy a glimpse of typical Sri Lankan everyday life in the small village of Hiriwadunna near Sigiriya.
You will be picked up from the hotel and driven out into the lush Sri Lankan countryside. The tour starts with a walk through the landscape, where you will see colourful birds, butterflies and villagers fishing or washing clothes along the shore of the lake. You will then sail across the peaceful water lily-covered lake in an “oruwa”, the traditional Sri Lankan watercraft.
After the sedate boat ride, you can try your hand at harvesting crops with a farmer – naturally with his help and guidance. The visit is rounded off with a well-deserved authentic Sri Lankan lunch made from freshly harvested produce and local spices prepared by the farmer and his family in clay pots over an open fire.
The excursion should be booked from home.
