Full-day excursion to magical Ninh Binh with Hoa Lu and Trang An (UNESCO)

The guide picks you up from the hotel in the morning and you head for the wonderful Ninh Binh province, known for its unique scenery.

Around a 2-hour drive, 100 km south of Hanoi, lies Hoa Lu, which was the capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. Any remaining relics of that time have all but been engulfed by the spectacular surrounding landscape. Here, you enjoy a pleasant lunch at a local restaurant.

In nearby Trang An, you board a sampan – a small, flat wooden boat. Sit back and enjoy the 2.5-hour boat trip as you gently rock your way along the river through picturesque scenery among rolling rice fields and green-clad limestone cliffs shooting up into the landscape. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the area is known as the Ha Long Bay on land. Along the way, you sail through several caves, and you can enjoy the many birds. Back on land, you head back to Hanoi.
